J.R. Butler pens his
unforgettable memoir that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Adopted from
birth, life was quite idyllic in the beginning years for J.R. Butler. He
describes growing up in Texas in a wonderful home with two loving parents in
the 50s and 60s. Tragic events began to circumference his childhood at the
tender age of 8. As a youth, a once hopeful boy spiraled through his teenage
years, and drifted from everything he thought was good, J.R. Butler came to a
bitter end, as he contemplated suicide. Born out of that desperation of great
life-long loss, faith that was shattered and a man now riddled with shame, the
author discovered at that moment he had really only lived for one person –
himself! He writes this story in response, offering his story as a gift for
those lost in utter despair and for those who are searching for answers. There
is hope in one person, God Himself.
Readers will not
be able to put J.R. Butler’s book down! Butler’s writing flows from the depth
of his heart as he describes his hero, his strong father. A strong Christian
man who held God first, his love for his wife and family, a short second, and his
father as one who worked hard to create a life for his beloved family. J.R.
Butler gives incredible honor to his parents, giving credence to the values of the
American Dream, values that this country held in high esteem: Love for family,
God, and country.
The story of
redemption and resurrection gives this book a wonderful ending! The author
writes that his mission is to reveal to others that God is always with us, even
in the darkest times. His book gives hope and testimony to the fact that
miracles still do happen every day. Again, this is just one of those books that
is a wonderful memoir and testament to how God can work in our lives throughout
our entire existence. The author is a fantastic writer and there is not one
moment in this book where you will find yourself bored.
Highly recommended
to give hope to those in need of a new life and a new beginning when seemingly all
is lost.
