“This is an exciting and timeless epic novel, depicting a dark time in America’s history, as many battles endeavor peripherally and within the life and times of Margaret Anne, revealing dark family secrets and a thought-provoking work of historical fiction.” ~ CBM

Margaret Anne, Child of the West Wind by Ronan James Cassidy presents a literary masterpiece, as a prelude to the Redemption series. A time of upheaval and great crimes against humanity, speaking of slavery, America  is about to enter the Civil war. Yet, there is already war on many fronts, as the author unveils the prejudices and biases prevalent.

Margaret Anne, born in 1859 under a shroud of secrecy and darkness, the book's immense descriptive imagery weaves timelines that put the reader right there with the events and characters that makes for a vivid and exciting read. The linguistics of the time period invigorate the “feel” of the book and give understanding to perspectives of each beautifully molded character and event that unfolds. Each chapter offers an exquisitely organized set of circumstances, leading up to the many twists and turns this novel takes. Often the depravity of man and of a nation sheds light through one woman born in secret being deeply rooted within family legacies steeped in the time period.

Further enduring societal and economical clashes led the proud patriarch of the Calhoun family, the father of Margaret Anne, (born illegitimately), that catapults readers into this historical novel, as colonial states seek to etch out identity as a nation under God. The author exposes the battles, the moral decline, and the darkness that veiled truth. Light shines for justice. A wonderfully written book, true to the time period of 1865 and the following years in every way! Those who love accurate depictions of history blended with mystery, romance, God, and the Civil War will love this book.

A wonderful time piece of history displaying darkness directly clashing with the light, bringing forth a riveting and timeless novel of historical fiction to the forefront.
