Created by kids in The Little Pieces Club after short prompts, this book discusses the subject of divorce and the feelings kids will have through a divorce or separation.

Developed with a Biblical mindset and blended with Adversity Counseling, the author has written an uplifting story created by the kids in the LPC (Little Pieces Club) that helps children relate to their own feelings. With hope for the future in mind and keeping in mind the new way families’ lives will be impacted, this book fosters discipleship, prayer, and talking to God that encourages children to talk to God while giving comfort to children, as parents continue to talk to their kids in a manner with love and trust as their foundation.

This is a difficult time for everyone, especially kids who often blame themselves and don’t know how to navigate what might be their first trauma in life, as the author states. Thus, this is a relatable story of a dad and his daughter, Lizzie, spending one-on-one time together and talking about Lizzie’s feelings through the story she sees in the clouds.

Symbolic, each scene is beautifully illustrated with beach and cloud scenes. The clouds represent the storms of life that each child may go through. The Sun represents God and the clouds may seek warmth and wisdom. As Lizzie gazes at the clouds, she asks, “Dad, do clouds get divorced too?” Her dad answers yes and asks her to illuminate on how she thinks those clouds might feel going through storms. Lizzie names the cloud “Ckevan” and describes how he feels about not seeing his dad and having his dad move away. His story of experiencing divorce along with his siblings brings a delightful story that captivates how children might feel during this time.

With questions to consider for parents and notes at the bottom, the author has incorporated assistance in helping the parents speak, engage, and talk to their children, giving them understanding and advice that address how to deal with anger, frustration, blame, unforgiveness and the abandonment often felt by children. Uplifting parents, the author also gives sound advice to parents during this time.

This is a wonderful short story to help kids and parents through this most difficult time of divorce or separation.
